Industrial Anti Rust Paint for Metal in Oil and Gas Environments

At MPC Industrial Coatings Malaysia, we provide specification-grade anti rust coating systems designed for oil and gas, marine, and heavy industrial applications. Many of the major Oil majors use International paint products to protect their assets. We have ready stock items that are named on global specifications of oil major such as Petronas, Shell, Exxon, Chevron, Saudi Aramco, Dow, Vopak.

Steel structures in the oil and gas industry operate in some of the most aggressive corrosion conditions — offshore exposure, chemical contact, humidity, and salt-laden air. Selecting the correct anti rust paint for metal is critical to ensure structural integrity, safety compliance, and long-term asset performance.

Oil & gas industry has stringent   environmental, health & safety regulations. We can work closely with contractors to provide technical consultation on choice of coatings system for difficult maintenance jobs in oil & gas market. Optional onsite Technical Support Representatives can supervise application of the paint and train the applicator. Our support ensures that the owners see the true value of using International Paint products.

Galvanic Corrosion in Offshore Structures

Galvanic corrosion occurs when dissimilar metals are in contact in the presence of an electrolyte such as seawater, industrial moisture, or humidity. This electrochemical reaction makes one metal to corrode faster than another one, leading to serious structural damage.

This type of corrosion frequently develops on offshore platforms and heavy steel structures in the oil and gas industry. Particularly happens at bolted joints, flange connections, and structural attachments where different alloys meet.

A properly designed anti rust paint for metal or steel structure acts as a protective barrier that preventing metal-to-metal electrical transfers and slowing corrosion rates. Applying certified and high-performance industrial coating systems such as International Paint is necessary to extend asset life, ensure safety compliance, and reduce maintenance costs in Malaysia’s tropical environment.

Pitting Corrosion in Offshore Environments

Pitting corrosion is localized and dangerous because it is often invisible until severe damage occurs. Even small coating defects can case chloride-rich moisture to penetrate the surface, resulting deep pits that weaken metal structure from within.

This corrosion form commonly happens in offshore structures, piping systems, storage tanks, and splash-zone steel exposed to saltwater and aggressive chemicals.

To eliminate this issue, high performance epoxy and polyurethane anti rust coating systems are widely applied across the oil and gas industry. These anti rush coatings provide durable, thick, and impermeable protection against moisture ingress, ensuring long-term structural reliability in Malaysia operating conditions.
